SUMMARY:Nurturing Parent Series
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Family Resource Network for our Nurturing Parenting Series: \nNurturing Skills for Families-A Strength Based Approach to Positive Parenting \nThe Family Resource Network will be offering a six session course presented by our team of credentialed Family Peer Advocates and trained facilitators. \nThe six session workshop will meet on the following dates from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Family Resource Network located at 46 Oneida Street in Oneonta: \nWednesday\, October 16 \nWednesday\, October 23 \nWednesday\, October 30 \nWednesday\, November 6 \nWednesday\, November 13 \nWednesday\, November 20 \nThe Nurturing Parenting Programs are a family-centered trauma-informed initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglecting parenting and child-rearing practices. The Nurturing Parenting Programs are designed to meet the family’s needs based on their parenting strengths and weaknesses. \nInstructors of the Nurturing Programs gather information from families in order to learn more about them. Our trained facilitators will tailor the sessions based on the initial assessment completed by each participant. Assessments will gather information about participants’ current life conditions\, their childhood\, their relationship with their partner\, their relationship with their children\, how much they already know about parenting\, and the beliefs they have about raising children. The Family Resource Network strongly encourages participants to complete this assessment prior to the first meeting if possible. \nWhat to expect if you participate in the Nurturing Parenting Series: \n\nThe Nurturing Programs are family based interventions where parents and their children learn similar knowledge and skills for improving the quality of their lives.\nBuilt in assessment strategies allow facilitators and parents to chart the course of their successes.\nThe flexibility within the structure of the programs allows facilitators to ensure the specific needs of families are being met.\nThe nurturing philosophy of non-violent parenting focuses on the development of empathy\, self-worth\, self-awareness\, empowerment\, discipline with dignity\, appropriate family roles and age-appropriate expectations of children’s development.\nThis six session course is geared towards families raising children from birth through 11 years old.\n\nTo find out more information or to register please call the Family Resource Network at 607-432-0001 and ask to speak with Barb Finkelstein.

SUMMARY:Norwich Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Please Join the Family Resource Network for Our Monthly Support Groups for Families of Individuals with OPWDD Eligibility!\nWe understand that caring for a child or adult with a developmental disability can be isolating and that being with someone who “gets it” can be healing. We are offering these groups as an opportunity for families to form connections\, support each other\, and learn from each other. \nRegistration is required. Childcare available upon request. \nSunday October 20\, 2019 \n2pm-4pm \nCanasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church \n4299 State Hwy 23 \nNorwich\, NY \n***This program is funded through a grant from the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).  Self-directing families may attend one meeting prior to adding it to their budget. If they decide to continue to attend the Support Group on a regular basis FRN will help you make the addition to your budget*** \nTo register please follow the link below: \nRegistration Form
