FRN will be providing families gift cards and a supply list that they can use to get the ingredients they need for the recipes.  Please register by Monday\, November 11th in order to receive your gift card prior to the event. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Family Resource Network and Starbridge for an upcoming training: \n“Improving Your Advocacy Outcomes:  Advocacy Steps and An Attitude of Gratitude” \nWednesday\, December 11\, 2024\n9:00-11:00 am\nOnline \nAdvocacy is the act of problem-solving with a purpose and a goal.  A parent might engage in advocacy on behalf of their child; people who have a disability may advocate for themselves; a teacher may advocate on behalf of a student; groups of people may join forces in systemic advocacy efforts to change laws or policies. A step-by-step approach can guide us toward the desired outcome\, regardless of the circumstance or scope. Participants will learn how to build a solid foundation of team members. Hands-on activities will reinforce the advocacy steps that lead to successful outcomes. \nThe expression of gratitude can have a positive influence in your life and in the lives of others with whom you interact. Students and teachers need strategies to minimize those behaviors and to maximize learning opportunities. This workshop will explore the nature of a child’s behavior and when a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) should be requested. An FBA helps to determine why a student engages in behaviors that impede learning. We will share tools and strategies to support student success\, and what types of supports and services might be needed. \n\nUnderstand the terms Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan\nUnderstand the process by which these are developed\nBe able to actively participate in the process of developing these plans\n\nOur Presenter: Kara Georgi is the Parent Education Specialist for Starbridge Parent Training and Information Center. DESCRIPTION:Come join the Family Resource Network’s Teen Scene and Dragon Dates Programs for a Bowling Event! \nSaturday\, May 3\, 2025\n2:00pm-4:00pm \nEast Main Lanes & Lounge\n1 East Main Street\nSidney\, NY \nEnjoy a couple hours of fun at the Bowling Alley!  Family Resource Network will pay for shoe rental and two games of bowling per family.  A pizza lunch will be provided! \nPlease Register by May 1st \nRegistration is REQUIRED.  \nTo register please follow the link below: \nRegistration Form \nThe age range for Teen Scene events has been expanded and Teen Scene events will be open to any school aged youth in Otsego\, Delaware and Chenango County. \nDragon Dates events are for the families of individuals with OPWDD eligibility living in the family home in Broome\, Chenango\, Otsego\, Delaware\, Tioga or Tompkins County.
