Learn how to collaborate with your child’s school and what supports and services may be available through school for a child who has anxiety. \n¨ Learn how to collaborate with your child’s school\n¨ Identify supports and services available through school and your community \nOur speaker: Kara Georgi is the Parent Education Specialist for Starbridge parent training and information center. DESCRIPTION:Join the Family Resource Network for our 1st Ever Virtual and 5th Annual Duck Derby!!\nTuesday\, December 1st\, 2020\nAs a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the Family Resource Network has made the difficult decision to hold our 5th Annual Duck Derby Fundraiser as a virtual event. Our 2020 Duck Derby will be held on Giving Tuesday-December 1st\, 2020 \nVirtual Duck Races will be held throughout the day so you can still cheer your Duck on! The Duck Derby will consist of multiple heats of duck races throughout the day. CASH PRIZES will be awarded to first place finishers in each race. \nDucks are being sold for $5.00 each or 6 for $20.00!  This year they can be purchased right online through Eventbrite using the following link: \n BUY MY TICKETS NOW!\nThank you for your continued support and we hope to be able to see all of you again in person in June 2021 for our 6th Annual Duck Derby and Family Fun Day!! \n  \n\n  \nA portion of the funds raised by the Duck Derby will go directly to support individuals living with a disability through The Legacy Resource Fund. This is a fund created and managed by the Family Resource Network\, Inc. to assist local families of children with disabilities with costs not covered by insurance. Some examples of items the Legacy Resource Fund has covered include: hotel and/or gas to and from doctor appointments that are out of the area; travel to disability specific conferences; medical equipment and/or modifications that are not covered by insurance or any other agency.

SUMMARY:Conference on Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:As more and more students are being identified with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities\, teachers and school staff are increasingly looking for ways to best support these students in their classrooms. This interactive session will explore key theories and strategies for creating school communities that meaningfully include students with disabilities. We will consider the experience of autism in the areas of sensory and movement differences\, communication\, social interaction and behavior and will discuss teaching practices for educating a diverse population that includes students on the autism spectrum. (There will be a one hour break for lunch.) \nOur Speaker:  Christine Ashby\, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Inclusive Special Education and Disability at Syracuse University.
