SUMMARY:Workshop: Self-Care for the Caregiver
DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Self-Care for the Caregiver \n\nDo you think you are being selfish if you put your needs first?\nIs it frightening to think of your own needs?\nDo you have trouble asking for what you need?\n\n“I’m Fine\,” are words we often tell others when asked how we are. The fact of the matter is that we may not be fine. Caring for a loved one with special needs does not come with an easy button. Try as we might\, we cannot stop the impact of the needs of our loved ones. However\, there is a great deal that we can do to take responsibility for our own personal well-being and to get our own needs met so that we can better support our loved ones.   Deb Foster\, Massage Therapist\, and Joleane Robinson\, Wellness Advocate will partner for this workshop on simple techniques and strategies for preventing burnout while caring for our loved ones with special needs. \nDate: Wednesday\, November 6\, 2019 \nTime: 6:00pm to 8:00pm \nLocation: Norwich Family YMCA \n68-70 North Broad St. \nNorwich\, NY \nRegistration is required.  \nTo register by phone\, call Joleane at 432-0001. \nTo register online follow the link below: \nRegistration Form \n***This workshop is funded through a grant from the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).  Self-directing families will need to add “Training Groups” to their budgets prior to attending. Please contact FRN for assistance adding this to your budget.*** \n

In 1974 she was employed as Livestock Editor for the Arizona Farmer Ranchman and also worked for Corral Industries on equipment design. In 1975 she earned her M.S. in Animal Science at Arizona State University for her work on the behavior of cattle in different squeeze chutes. Dr. Grandin was awarded her Ph.D in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in 1989 and is currently a Professor at Colorado State University. \n***This opportunity is funded through a grant from the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.
